Google Adwords allows you to order TV commercials and choose which time slot,
network or program to show your ad. If you need help creating an ad,
voice
and video talent is available. Although introduced a couple of years ago, I
am surprised this solution isn't more popular.
Some speculate this might lead to more "spam" on television or poor,
unprofessional media ads.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is a
solution for Adsense with current partners including Dish Network, Hallmark
Channel and the History Channel.
I am wondering how this will tie in with
GoogleTV
and overall affect the media advertising industry.
Slate's Seth Stevenson tries out Google Adwords TV Advertising and reports
results.
On January 27th, Google released another feature called "Social Search" which
allows you to plugin your social networks and get reviews from friends and
contacts. You have to be logged into your Google account to use this feature and
have your social networks set up under your Google profile.
The feature works by searching on a search term, say "France" and
results come combined with public updates from your social networks.
As we come upon the holiday seasons, more and more local
food pantries are faced with a supply shortage and an increased need for food to help needy families. Here in Eldon, Missouri there are
dozens of drives for our food pantries but the epidemic is nationwide mainly due
to the economy.
You can find your local pantries by going to an online yellow pages (such as
SuperPages.com) and
typing in "food pantry" with your city, state. Strangely enough when looking up
local listings in Tampa, Florida, I saw a "Pet Pantry". So let's not forget the
animals, too.
I just noticed Paypal has a Virtual Terminal service for phone, fax and mail
orders. I am not sure how long they've had this in place but it's a nice
alternative than going through the expense of a merchant account anywhere else.
The Paypal Virtual Terminal is for business accounts only.
The domain chosen as the demo site for the next development product for
domainers is:
TalkingSports.com
I chose this name because it reflected a general category without being too
niche and it was the closest name to what I was looking for. Thank you all for
the submissions. There were many great names to chose from.
NEXT CONTEST: I have coordinated with
Arbel Arif to bring you
another development contest. This one will include a domain name in addition to
development. He has a few interesting ideas in place that I'm sure you will all
like. Details coming soon.
